Endangered Species App & Website

Project Duration: May 2022

Project Overview

Target Audience

My Role

Plant Parlour’s app and website are intended to appeal to adults of ages 25-65 that are seeking to learn about how to protect or support endangered species.

UX designer designing a responsive website from conception to delivery for Plant Parlour, a non-profit dedicated to the preservation of endangered species. My responsibilities included: conducting interviews, creating wireframes, creating low and high-fidelity prototypes, conducting usability studies, and iterating on designs.

Project Goal

The goal of this project is to provide an easy-to-use, vibrant, and responsive website & mobile app

Key Challenges

Plant Parlour’s website was in need of a site-wide refresh and intuitive responsive layouts. Users were unable to view an up-to-date list of endangered species and nonprofits that work towards the conservation of these species

Research Study

We conducted surveys of Plant Parlour’s customers to identify their pain points. The results of these surveys confirmed the need for a responsive website & app with a modern look & feel and an up-to date listing of species.

Low-fidelity Prototype

Usability Study Findings

1. Users want an intuitive search functionality with filters & a map.
2. Users want an easier way to navigate throughout the app.
3. Users want a more visually appealing & responsive website design. The color combinations must also be ADA compliant

Conclusion

Responsive Designs

The responsive page layouts are consistent and easy-to-use across all devices.

The website helps users find endangered species and nonprofits near them that they can support. It’s a win-win-win!

While designing the Plant Parlour website and app, I learned the value of usability studies. The feedback received helped me refine my designs and simplify the user-flow
